Lee Holden (born 1969) is an internationally- known instructor in the areas of meditation, tai chi, and qi gong. His best-selling instructional DVDs frequently air on hundreds of American Public Television stations. He is also author of the Eastern-inspired fitness book, 7 Minutes of Magic (Penguin, 2007).
Holden was born in Mountain View, CA. He initially began the practice of qi gong to improve his performance as an athlete, and, later, to recover from a back injury that almost ended his varsity soccer career at the University of California, Berkeley. Told he would never play again, Lee used qi gong to heal and was able to return to playing. That experience led him to seriously pursue the study of qi gong, tai chi and other Eastern healing arts with the goal of introducing them to a wider audience in the West.
After U.C. Berkeley graduated him in 1992, with a B.A. in Psychology, Holden studied at Five Branches Institute in Santa Cruz, CA, widely considered the leading acupuncture college in the U.S. Holden is recognized as a “Doctor of Chinese Medicine” and is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist with his own practice in Los Gatos, CA. He serves as a wellness and stress management consultant to Silicon Valley corporations like Apple Inc. and Cisco, and on the set of several Hollywood movies.
